I've created several videos for my students over the years, and I forget how to burn it onto a dvd every time!
It isn't too difficult, I just forget the steps.
Recently, I've had to assist a friend with making a dvd. Once again, I had forgotten the steps. This time, I decided to make a "How To" document to go along with my instructions. Hopefully, it will help me remember the steps!
Step 1: Create your movie using iMovie.
Step 2: Choose Media Browser
Step 3: Select the Size
Step 4: Open iDVD and choose a Theme
Step 5: Locate your video using the Media button on the right side of the screen.
Step 6: Give your movie a title.
Step 7: Go to File and choose Burn DVD
Step 8: Insert a DVD and wait for it to Burn
That's it!
I usually like to Preview the movie first before I burn it to a DVD. Also, the first burn takes the longest time. Afterwards, multiple copies of the movie burn quicker. (Which is good when you have to make a class set of videos.)
I take videos of Open House, field trips, plays/programs, end-of-year party, and then I'll put them all together along with a slideshow of my pictures as an End-of-Year DVD gift to my students.
*NOTE: THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR THOSE WHO USE A MAC. I HAVEN'T A FLIPPIN' CLUE HOW TO MAKE ONE WITH A PC!
Thanks- I'm doing this today, so if I forget a tep, I can come back here.

I am make an end of the year DVD for my students. We have a Pot Luck Dessert Party and I surprise them with the DVD. It is a lot of work but very well worth it. The looks on everyone's faces is truly priceless!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI make a DVD as well. I have done so for many years and worked my way through a lot of movie making programs. By far my favorite is iMovie. So easy to use! I also buy the larger DVD cases, cut paper and have the kids design the insert. They have no idea what the picture is for; they copy the words KINDERGARTEN then add the year. Then on the last day, I give them each a keepsake DVD. I can't watch it with them, I get too emotional! ;-)
If you don't already have iMove, it's well worth the money and especially if you get the Family Pack!
Very handy. I'm always forgetting "techie stuff" if I don't use the program often enough. But Macs make learning easy.
